Every business that makes or receives payments pays a stack of fees to do so, and most are paying more than they need to somewhere in that stack.
The market for advice on this does not serve them. The largest consultancies work only with the largest organisations. The specialist boutiques work mainly for the providers rather than their customers. The vendor-aligned consultants recommend the vendor they are aligned with. Between those three there is very little independent, senior advice available to a business that simply wants to know whether it is paying a fair price.
That is the gap Payment Strategy Partners was set up to fill.
Our advice comes from having sat on both sides of these contracts rather than from a consulting framework. We know what the terms usually look like, what a provider will concede under pressure and what it will not, and where in a statement the money tends to
Our primary work is for businesses and public bodies that make or receive payments, rather than for the firms selling payment services. Where we hold a referral arrangement with a provider, the client is told before any introduction is made.
Engagements have a defined scope and an end. We would rather finish a piece of work and be asked back than keep a retainer running past the point where it earns its place.
The cost stack is complicated enough without the advice adding to it. Our reports say what we found, what it is worth, and what we suggest doing about it.
We are based in London and work with clients across the UK and European markets. The firm is deliberately small: the people you meet are the people who do the work, and there is no layer of junior staff between you and the thinking you are paying for.
The first conversation takes half an hour, costs nothing and commits you to nothing. If there is nothing here for you, we will say so.
